A few days ago we received news of the death of our member of many years Gerhard Krischke, who died in Hanover at the age of 84.
Krischke was a BPP expertiser for occupation issues of the Second World War from 1978 until his age-related retirement in 2000. He was considered one of the leading authorities on this exciting period in German philately and was for decades a reliable partner of collectors, dealers and auctioneers in matters regarding the genuineness and quality of these issues, some of which are among the most susceptible to forging.
Even after his retirement from the BPP, Gerhard Krischke remained an internationally highly respected expert and promoter of his successors, and was repeatedly sought-after for advice in difficult situations.
We extend our sympathy to his wife and children. We will remember him with honour.
